A faculty member at the American University of Nigeria, AUN, Ms Danielle Villasana, on Wednesday, April 20, presented a lecture to the students taking the course, Writing for the Mass Media, on how they can effectively pitch their stories to editors and make money.

Ms Villasana, an award-winning photojournalist, explained the concept of pitching and offered useful tips on effective pitching

“Pitching is your ability to sell a story.

“Editors are usually very busy, so to successfully pitch a story, your pitch must be as brief and attractive as possible,” she said.

She advised the students to spend quality time when writing their pitches and to always pitch their stories around 10:00 am on Tuesday mornings as that is the least busy time for editors.
